What’s the meaning behind “81 Keys” ?

Music is often about being in key and hitting the right notes at the right time. Striving to be “in key” can be a metaphor for life and it is certainly how we organize our company.

A full size piano may have 88 keys, but the first seven are hardly used because the frequencies are so low. Most of the popular music that’s made today is right in the sweet spot, yet when the emotion deems it necessary those lower frequencies may be included. Generally, and especially in Hip Hop, that space is reserved for the subs and 808’s.

The “81” in our name refers to the keys that we normally produce within. The “keys” in our name refers to both the piano and the notes of other instruments playing in concert creating harmonies and dissonance.

However, the keys make no sound of themselves if they are never struck. It is our passion for making powerful music that drives us to play those keys and to make it beautiful.
